Insurance Fraud Attempt Thwarted by Dashcam

by FraudReport 28. July 2017 06:05

Thanks to the invention of the dashcam, every now and again we get a good glimpse of how far people will go to stage an accident to further an insurance fraud scheme. In this video taken in the U.K., we see a very well executed staged “crash,” but in the end it was obvious it didn’t play out the way the perpetrators intended.

In the video, the man can be seen walking his bike in front of the car and then deliberately backing it into the car. And if that wasn’t enough, the man then throws himself onto the car’s windshield. A pedestrian then emerges from a neighboring house, filming the incident, probably an accomplice who can later back up the moped rider's version of what happened.

The car’s driver came prepared however, revealing the camera on her dashboard that had been recording the entire pitiful event. She yells, "Oh my God! What the hell are you doing?” following up with “You're mad, you're absolutely mad. I've got a camera. Do you understand you're on video, you complete idiot?"

Once they hear that, the two men immediately try to hide their faces and get away from the scene, while the woman calls the police.

The video has been circling around on Facebook, bringing in laughs and “likes” from around the world. Hopefully these individuals were caught and punished for their crimes, but at least their stupidity can give you a laugh until we know more.
